Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)
Established in 1965, LACMA is the premier arts museum in the western United States. The original complex, designed by William L. Pereira and Associates, consisted of three raised structures that formed a courtyard above a water plaza. Architects Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer renovated the museum in the 1980s, and Renzo Piano is the architect for LACMA's extensive new building program.

Hours: Mon., Tues., Thurs. noon-8 p.m.; Fri. noon-9 p.m.; Sat., Sun. 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
Paid parking (free after 7 p.m.) in lots at Wilshire Blvd. and Spaulding Ave., and at Wilshire Blvd. and Ogden Dr.

Admission: Free general admission for museum members; non-members: $9/$5 seniors and students (18+) with I.D./free for visitors 17 and under. Free general admission for all after 5 p.m. and on the second Tuesday of each month. Advance reservations not required for general exhibits; additional admission required for some exhibits.
